Située entre Beaune et Chalon-sur-Saône, la Commune de Chagny s’est développée au sein d’un important réseau d’infrastructures articulant voies ferrées, canal du centre et RN6. Ce contexte a plutôt favorisé l’installation d’activités industrielles et artisanales mais la Commune ne bénéficie pas réellement du transit touristique ni de la proximité, pourtant immédiate, des grands sites viticoles.

Comment améliorer l’accessibilité au centre-Commune ? Comment amplifier l’attractivité, affirmer le repérage, donner envie d’aller vers la Commune et d’y rester ? Telles sont les questions que tente de résoudre la Commune de Chagny en développant un programme d’interventions essentiellement tourné vers le développement  urbain et  l’aménagement de l’espace public. Des questions corollaires sont également abordées : logement, activité, tourisme et font l’objet d’actions spécifiques. L’approche transversale permet d’assurer la cohérence des investissements dans le temps et dans l’espace. Globalement, c’est l’évolution de l’image de la commune qui est au cœur des préoccupations.

Après une analyse urbaine et paysagère du territoire communal, l’étude de programmation urbaine (SLAE) s’attache à définir un certain nombre d’actions et d’aménagements de l’espace public ainsi que des scénarios d’investissement permettant de mesurer les effets sur le budget de la commune.

Ici la pierre de Bourgogne est préconisée pour les espaces piétons mais les espaces circulés, d’avantage sollicités, sont réalisés en pavés de grés.

Le carrefour principal des rues commerçantes de l’hyper-centre est traité en pierres blondes et en pavés de grés sciés
